“Trust & Society” – Call for papers (Engl & French)

International Conference, Yaoundé (Cameroon), November 25–27, 2026

The Catholic University of Central Africa (UCAC), in collaboration with the Luxembourg School of Religion & Society and the Pontifical Academy of Theology, is organizing an international transdisciplinary conference on the theme “Trust & Society.”

Within a field of trust studies largely shaped by the social sciences and Western perspectives, this conference seeks to move beyond these frameworks by fostering dialogue between theoretical and practical approaches. Particular attention will be given to theology, African contexts, and contemporary transformations, especially those related to technological developments and social change.

The conference aims to promote a truly transdisciplinary approach—one that not only integrates diverse forms of knowledge and experience to renew our understanding of trust, mistrust, and the processes shaping societies, but also adopts a specifically theological perspective, in line with the Motu proprio Ad theologiam promovendam: “Transdisciplinarity must be understood as ‘the integration and mutual enrichment of all forms of knowledge within the space of Light and Life offered by the Wisdom flowing from God’s Revelation’” (Veritatis gaudium, Preamble, 4c).

Call for Papers

Researchers, faculty members, doctoral candidates, and practitioners are invited to submit paper proposals (in French or English) that clearly demonstrate a transdisciplinary approach and comply with the submission guidelines.

L’Université Catholique d’Afrique Centrale (UCAC), en collaboration avec la Luxembourg School of Religion & Society et l’Académie pontificale de théologie, organise un colloque international transdisciplinaire consacré au thème « Trust & Society » à Yaoundé du 25 au 27 novembre 2026.

Dans le contexte de trust studies marqués notamment par les sciences sociales et les perspectives occidentales, cette conférence propose de dépasser ce cadre et de croiser les approches théoriques et pratiques en accordant une attention particulière à la théologie, aux contextes africains et aux transformations actuelles (notamment liées aux technologies et aux mutations sociales).

Le colloque entend promouvoir une approche transdisciplinaire, capable non seulement d’intégrer différents savoirs et expériences afin de renouveler la compréhension de la confiance, de la défiance et des processus de construction des sociétés, mais en adoptant une perspective proprement théologique suivant le Motu proprio Ad theologiam promovendam : « La transdisciplinarité doit au contraire être pensée “comme la réunion et la fermentation de tous les savoirs dans l’espace de Lumière et de Vie offert par la Sagesse qui émane de la Révélation de Dieu” (Constitution apostolique Veritatis gaudium, Préambule, 4c) ».

Appel à communications

Les chercheurs, enseignants, doctorants et praticiens sont invités à soumettre des propositions de communication (en français ou en anglais), mettant en évidence une démarche transdisciplinaire en respectant les consignes de l’appel à communication.
