Gesichter – geprägt vom Leben, der Angst und dem Schmerz, Spiegel aber auch von Zärtlichkeit, Weisheit und Vertrauen. Maxim Kantors markanter Pinselstrich und seine expressive Farbpalette beleben die von Gesellschaft, Geschichte und Gottsuche geprägten Porträts. Wie der russische Dissident Propaganda und Lüge demaskiert, so zeigt er zugleich, was bleibt und trägt.

Dieter Rickert war bis zu seinem Ruhestand Deutschlands führender Headhunter. „Köpfe sind mein Geschäft“, sagt er. Seine Sammlung umfasst 19 Porträts und drei weitere für Kantors Werk emblematische Gemälde. Die Sammlung Rickert stellt auch die Frage: Was, wer und wo ist der Mensch? Die zwischen 1977 und 2024 entstandenen Werke hat Rickert nun der Luxembourg School of Religion & Society überlassen.

Faces marked by life, fear and pain, but also mirrors of tenderness, wisdom and trust. Maxim Kantor's striking brushstrokes and expressive palette bring to life portraits shaped by society, history and the search for God. As he unmasks propaganda and lies, the Russian dissident also shows what endures and sustains.

Dieter Rickert was Germany’s leading headhunter until he retired. “Heads are my business,” he says. His collection includes 19 portraits and three other paintings that are emblematic of Kantor’s work. The Rickert Collection also poses the question: What, who, and where is the human being? Rickert has now entrusted the works, created between 1977 and 2024, to the Luxembourg School of Religion & Society.
