Course on Biblical Pastoral Ministry in Luxembourg

Content and approach

The Luxembourg School of Religion & Society organizes in cooperation with the Department of Biblical Studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University a Course on Biblical Pastoral Ministry in Luxembourg. The course, based on Pope Benedict XVI’s thinking of the “biblical inspiration of all pastoral activity” (Verbum Domini 73) and on Pope Francis’ idea of making Scriptures the dynamic source of Evangelisation (Evangelii gaudium 174), shall promote the recognition of the ecclesiological position of biblical pastoral ministry as a true locus theologicus within the Church. The students shall understand the relevant fundamental theological issues, experience various methods of reading the Scriptures in the Christian Communities and prepare themselves for active ecumenical and interreligious sharing of the Scriptures.

The course, directed by Prof. Georg Rubel, Ph.D. habil., consists of 24 hours of teaching, through an interdisciplinary approach combining biblical studies, dogmatic issues and pastoral theology. In addition to that, a rich, diversified program will be offered as an opportunity to get in touch with Church, history, culture and life in Luxembourg and its pluralist society in the heart of Europe. The course values 3 ECTS and is open for all students of the licentiate and the doctorate at the PUG and to any interested person who has completed the basic canonical studies in theology (Bac. theol., Mag. theol.). It is evaluated through a final exam.
